Complaints on Eamcet 2010 seat allotment list- Web counselling seat allotment Software failed to allot as per reserved quota???

Students not happy with first phase seat allotments...
Students are not happy with the web based Eamcet engineering counselling for not implementing the reservation rule even as the second phase of counselling is scheduled to begin from Tuesday, October 5. Complaints are pouring in from students and parents over the seat allotment list announced by Eamcet on September 25, after the first phase of counselling concluded. They said they had lost faith in the web based counselling as it failed to allot seats based on merit or as per reserved quotas.
Some Students alleged that as a result of quotas not being followed, students eligible for the same had lost out on seats in some of the best colleges in the state. They cited instances where not a single seat has been allotted to Muslim students under BC-E category in some of the top colleges.
Other students complained that they were allotted seats in sub-standard colleges though their ranks rendered them eligible for seats in the best colleges. They, too, blamed “faulty” web-based counselling.
For example- In MGIT, Gandipet, not a single seat was allotted to BC-E students in the civil engineering branch in the 1st phase of web counselling. BC-E students are eligible for 4% of the 29% quota prescribed for backward classes. Of the 20 seats allotted in the counselling, 14 to OC candidates, 1 to BC-D and 5 to BC-B. Not a single seat was allotted to students from BC-A, BC-C, BC-E, SC and ST categories. No seats were allotted for special category students from NCC, CAP and sports categories.
So many students have decided to go in for the 2nd phase in the hopes of getting a seat in a better college. Some want the web based counselling cancelled. Eamcet 2010 officials said they will enquire into these complaints.
